Even more miraculous was the fact that he could ski down a mountain of snow better than he could walk.
In fact, he is wheelchair bound now, but cherishes the moments on the mountain and the water in the swimming pool when he was an athlete for Special Olympics in Colorado, his home state.
His current interests are listening to music, making friends, looking at pictures and watching movies and sports.
He also enjoys traveling, especially to Phoenix, Arizona, where his younger sister is a biology teacher and basketball coach.
